Four Drummers 1997

The left-hand drummer is a tenor drummer in the Corps of Drums. There are two tenor drummers and both wear leopard-skin aprons. This man carries the slightly smaller of the two tenor drums. The other three are side drummers, of which the right-hand man is called a ‘tipper’ drummer, distinguished by a sash similar to a drum-major’s sash. This is the left side of a line-up in which the central drummers form XIX with their drumsticks.
