Colonel Francis Luttrell MP


Francis Luttrell was born in 1659, the second son of Francis Luttrell of Dunster Castle, Somerset. He inherited the castle when his older brother died in 1670. He matriculated at Christ Church College, Oxford in 1676 and was MP for Minehead from 1679 to 1690. He married Mary Tregonwell and had two daughters and a son. He was given the commission to raise the regiment on 28 Feb 1689 but it was antedated to 20 Nov 1688. He died in 1690, aged 31.
