Captain Andrew Munro


Andrew Munro started his army career as a private. He enlisted in the 7th Royal Fusiliers on 18 Oct 1850, promoted to corporal on 14 Jan 1852, and sergeant on 1 Mar 1854. He transferred to the Land Transport Corps as QM Sergeant on 1 Oct 1855 and was given a commission with the rank of ensign on 29 Jan 1856. He was promoted to lieutenant on 31 Jan 1860. At some point in the 1860s he transferred to the 19th Regiment and was a captain in 1875. He retired on 1 July 1881 with the honorary rank of lieutenant-colonel.
