Revolution in Egypt, 1919


The extent of nationalist feeling boiled over into revolt and rebellion in the aftermath of the Great War. Many were inspired by the break up of the Ottoman Empire or in Wilson's 14 points. However, the presence of so many imperial troops and martial laws still in place made for a heavy crackdown by the authorities.
