Asia Map, 1806

This is quite a detailed map from the Napoleonic era. Large scale maps like these had concerned decision makers just a few years earlier when thought that Napoleon might be able to move an army from Egypt to threaten India. Steeped in classical education and with a knowledge of Alexander the Great's exploits, British politicans and generals had thought that Napoleon might be able to do something similar.
