Police Superintendent FHE Mcdonald

FHE McDonald had been the fire superintendent and had also served with the British West Indies Regiment in Mesopotamia during the Great War. After the war he became involved in defending the colony from a rampaging mob of returning servicemen. Many soldiers were unhappy at the payment that they had received especially as inflation and the price of bread had risen so rapidly. It could have turned into a full blown coup had it not been for the swift and decisive action of FHE McDonald, amongst others who managed to restore the some 4,000 rioters to some order. The Governor was so pleased with his action that he was promoted to the position of police superintendent which the above picture illustrates.
