Dutch Map of Straits of Magellan, 1675

This is a map that shows the three islands of the Sebaldes. This map seems to believe that the Straits of Magellan extend far further than they actually do. The map shows an interesting naval battle between Dutch and Spanish ships and also shows native peoples offering some mined metal to the Dutch. During this time, the Dutch were trying to impinge upon the Portuguese and Spanish trading empires and were becomingly increasingly successful and assertive.
