French Privateer Captured off Jamaica, 1793

This painting is entitled: The 'Antelope' Packet Captures the 'Atlanta' French Privateer, off Jamaica, 2 December 1793. In many ways, the Napoleonic Wars represented the last hurrah of naval battles of supremacy, privateers and piracy as the triumphant Royal Navy was able to assert effective control of the Caribbean after their victory at Trafalgar in 1805.
