A Pinnace on the Ganges

This Thomas Daniel Painting shows an East India Pinnace sailing down the most famous of Indian rivers; the Ganges. It is sailing past Monghyr Fort but clearly shows how British influence had reached into the very heart of the Indian sub-continent firstly in the pursuit of trade but latterly in the pursuit of administrative opportunities.
