Sarawak Museum in Kuching

One of Charles Brooke's projects was the building of a state museum in Kuching and the regular publication of a journal on Sarawak history and culture. The museum was built in 1891 and extended in 1911. It also played a large natural history role with the encouragement of James Brooke's old friend and evolutionist Alfred Russel Wallace.
