Seventeenth Century Map of Nevis

This Seventeenth Century map was designed to illustrate the defences of the profitable island of Nevis to any French, Dutch, Spanish or indeed Privateers who might think that it provided rich pickings in the frequent battleground that was the Caribbean sea. The key shows how many cannons were available to the defenders marked on the map with the principle defence being Charles Fort with its 26 guns.
