Relief of Ekowe

On the same day as Isandlwana another British column actually successfully defeated a Zulu army and occupied Ekowe. However when news of the massacre reached Ekowe, the troops aborted their advance on Ulundi and stayed put. They were to be besieged for 71 days until an interim relief column of 10,500 men could be organised from Natal. It was relieved in early April.
