Rhodesia
Much of Africa was decolonised with very few problems.
Britain tried to hand over power to the existing elites who were thought to be sympathetic to maintaining friendly ties to Britain.
- In principle Britain tried to encourage a democratic transition and develop parliamentary systems
However, this became a problem in Rhodesia where the white minority were worried about a black majority coming to power.
