Bermuda Settlement, 1609

The London Company ship, Sea Venture, was wrecked on the coast of Bermuda in 1609. However, the beauty and resources of the island so captivate one of the surviving captains, George Somers, that he resolves to return to England to establish a company to colonise the island, which is precisely what he did when he returned in 1612.
