The Empire Stadium

The Empire Stadium was the official name for what became known as the Wembley Stadium. It was built to house the Empire Exhibition but became famous for hosting trophy and international football matches. This picture of the 1927 Cup Final also shows the development of new technologies - planes, radio and film. People could see the game in movie theatres or hear it broadcast on the radio.

The 1927 game saw Cardiff beat Arsenal 1 - 0.
