Larry Brom's excellent rule set 'The Sword and The Flame' uses a deck of cards to determine order of movement, firing and casualties sustained. This system works really well and are a pivotal aspect to the system. However, I have long thought that the game would be more visually appealing and understandable to players if the deck of cards were to be replaced by a deck of TSATF specific cards. These cards could actually tell you what you needed to know there and then. Newcomers would not have to go and check the rules, they could just read the card and continue playing. I have kept similar wound and kill proportions to those that would be found in a normal deck of cards. Although if you print out one of each of the six sets below, the deck will consist of 54 cards. Also, it is slightly more dangerous to officers! Please feel free to tailor and change the cards as you see fit.

I have included a heirarchy for casualties. This means that if no officer is present, you go to the next one down - i.e. to an NCO and so on. You will find that most of the terms are rather Anglo-centric - you can adjust these to work for the Natives as well - i.e. officer becomes warband leader, etc... Although there are rarely NCOs for the native player. In this case go down the heirarchy to 'Key Figure'.

Originally, these cards were made on Claris Works 5.0. If you have Claris Works and would like for me to email you the original cards then please email me. They will probably be better for printing out.
