Alexander (Regent of Serbia)

In 1914 Alexander became the Regent of Serbia. He had been linked by some to the Serbian Black Hand Secret Society. This did not prevent him from becoming the nominal Commander in Chief of the Serbian army in 1914. He helped in the desperate defence of Serbia in 1914 but could not help prevent defeat in 1915. He fled to Corfu and helped coordinate Serbian involvement in the Macedonian campaign. In 1921, he replaced his father as King of Yugoslavia. He was assassinated in 1934.
