Army on the March

This detailed contemorary print gives a good idea of the problems involved in moving an army. The soldiers are struggling to keep the wagons moving through thick mud which would be mixed with ox dung. This track is wide enough to take six wagons in line abreast but they would normally have to travel in single file.
