King's Dragoon Guards

Officer's Helmet, 1871 Pattern

The final pattern of full dress helmet that replaced the Albert Helmet. It is gilt, unlike the helmets of dragoons and household cavalry which were silver. The badge is a silver 12 pointed star with a gilt and enamel centre, the garter motto being on blue emamel and the royal crest on red enamel in the middle. The gilt chin chain is supported with rose pattern bosses.
