Sergeant-Major, Mounted 1902

The same sergeant-major as in the other two glass negative photos sent by Stephen Grose. This time the senior Warrant Officer is wearing the old blue pill box cap with gold lace band. This was replaced by the peaked forage cap in 1902. His stirrups are fitted with small leather buckets on either side, to hold the base of the lance. The front ranks of the 4th Dragoon Guards carried lances.
