Garrison Artillery

Heavy Artillery on the March

This is a 40 pounder Heavy Gun. It can be pulled by two elephants or by a team of 20 bullocks. Typically, elephants were used for marching long distances and bullocks were used in times of action. The reason was that the elephants tended to be more easily unnerved by the sound of the big guns firing and if they bolted they could cause immense amounts of damage to any nearby troops.
