Mounted British Officer, Full Dress c1900

This illustration by Percy Sumner gives an idea of how a British officer looked in the European style uniform as worn by Capt Dawson, when not parading with the men. The white helmet with white pagri has a gilt badge on the front and the gold cap lines looping around the helmet below the pagri, an unusual feature. His horses bridle has a white throat plume but the 1913 Dress Regulations, although they give the throat plume colours for most of the regiments, do not mention the 9th which indicates that they never had a throat plume.
