Officer c1830

The uniform of officers of Native Infantry was very much like that of the British Army. The coat is red with yellow facings and silver lace. The 2nd retained these colours from the beginning but all the regiments changed to gold lace from 1831 and the 2nd changed it's facing colour to white in 1839. His silver beltplate shows a 2 in a star with two battle honours for BUXAR and GUZERAT which were both awarded in February 1829 even though Buxar was fought in 1764 and Guzerat in the 1st Maratha War 1776-82.

He has a gilt gorget round his neck and his shako has a star badge with a 2 in the middle. This miniature is unsigned and the name of the officer unknown.
