Trumpeters, Full Dress 1915

These young trumpeters of the 14th were photographed at Meerut prior to their involvement in the First World War. The regiment had to turn out in full dress for the annual Proclamation Parade on 1 Jan 1915. They were destined to join the war in Mesopotamia but did not embark until October 1915. The dress of these trumpeters is no different from the rest of the regiment apart from the wearing of the white leather pouch-belt which had been discontinued for all but the band and trumpeters. The collar badges are of interest because this was the first time that the new Royal Crest badge had been worn, to replace the Prussian eagle badges.
