Sheikh Saad

B Squadron's heroic attack on the Turkish position is depicted in this drawing by Private Baggott. Captain T R Bruce commanded in this attack made on 8 Jan 1916. They got within 100 yards of the enemy before retiring under heavy fire. All wounded and dismounted men were rescued under extreme circumstances. Among the medals won in this action was the DCM for Squadron Sergeant-Major Wright who galloped right up to the Turkish trench and fired his revolver to create a diversion from the rescue efforts.
