5th Dragoon Guards

Officer’s Pouch c1820

The unusual design of this early pouch has the Princess’s PCW cypher in gothic script instead of the usual flowery style. The red cushioned coronet is above the cypher and the backing cloth is velvet which looks blue but is faded from green. Around the edge is the Neo-Classical Greek Key design to signify mourning for the Princess who died in 1817.  The belt that supports this pouch can be seen more easily in other photos of this display at Dress Coat 1820-28.
