In the Crimea

This painting by Orlando Norie depicts the 8th Hussars on recce patrol. One squadron, consisting of 121 men of the regiment took part in Lord Cardigan's 'Sawback Reconnaissance' to the Danube and Silistria. It achieved very little apart from many incapacitated horses and some very tired men. All ranks are wearing undress caps with their full dress uniforms.
