Gun and Limber 1862

This shows the left end of the panoramic painting by O Norie so that we can see the gun. The mounted figure on the extreme left is an officer, identifiable by the red edged black sheepskin that covers his saddle and valise. The white plume on his busby is larger than those of the other ranks. The figure on the grey horse looks like a trumpeter. The gunner holding a rammer (no.2 in the team) stands behind the gun which looks a safer position than the no.2 in Campion’s print of 1846 where he stands next to the barrel as the gun fires.
