Communism established in Eastern Europe
The Red Army already dominated Eastern Europe. They converted this military power in to political power
- Poland, Albania, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria
Some free elections were held - but if the result went against the communists then the Soviets intervened
- Czechslovakia was added in 1947
The only exception was Yugoslavia
