The French Empire is torn apart
However, the loyalty of so many colonies to the Vichy French was a problem for the British
- and De Gaulle as the leader of the Free French.
There were disagreements in the Vichy colonies
- some soldiers and administrators tried to transfer the loyalty of the colony to the Free French.
The British and the Free French did try and take Vichy colonies and ships by force
- leading to some strange battles where the former allies ended up fighting one another.
