Memorial Plaque

A memorial window was installed at All Saints Church, Aldershot, along with this plaque beneath it. It is alabaster and surrounded by Venetian mosaic. It displays the names of the men who died in the Kabul River on 31 Mar 1879 and those who died of cholera on the Death March of June 1879, as well as those who died on the campaign. The plaque was designed by Messrs Clayton & Bell, paid for by past and present (c1885) members of the regiment. A similar plaque in the same church commemorates those who died in the Boer War.
