Prince of Wales’s Sabretache c1783

This sabretache was probably made exclusively for the Prince of Wales, worn on special social occasions. It is more elaborate than other sabretaches of the period. It is made of black leather and faced with black velvet. The border is made up of gold embroidery and spangles. In the centre is a cypher GP surrounded by a trophy of arms, and the prince of Wales feathers above. The scroll below this has the motto PRO GLORIA ET PATRIA.
