| This Simkin painting is based on the uniform shown in David Morier's 7th Dragoons in his series of British Army privates in the Royal Collection. These men wear the scarlet coat with buff facings and white lace and white metal buttons. The saddle cloth and holster covers are buff (in fact, practically white) edged in yellow and blue. The drummer wears reverse colours ie. buff coat with red facings. |
