7th Dragoons

Private 1760

An anonymous contemporary watercolour that gives an excellent view of the dragoon uniform at this period. The white facings are confined to a small flash on his collar and a cuff just visible. The pouchbelt is very broad and it is unclear how the musket is supported by it. The main change since 1742 is in the horse furniture. The white shabracque is bordered in yellow and blue with the garter and crown at the rear and the new King George III's cypher on the pistol holster cover.
