7th Dragoons

Samuel Russell 1770

Russell served for only a few years and is seen here as a cornet. Officers had silver buttons and lace arranged in threes. By this time, junior officers had one epaullette on their left shoulder (see OFFICER 1770). The white facings are to be seen on the collar and cuffs of what is really a very plain coat. His sword hangs from a waist belt and his officer's sash goes over that. He has a white waistcoat and buff breeches, The boots are now lighter, the change from the heavy sort having taken place in 1764.
