Grenadier 1682

This reconstruction by Bob Marrion shows the uniform of a man of the grenadier company of the 2nd Tangier regiment based on observations made by the writer John Evelyn in 1678. The fur cap may have been lower than this, and it is not clear whether the yellow cuffs were adopted at this stage, the preferred colour for facings of James II. The waistbelt supports a sword and a plug bayonet. An axe handle can just be seen hanging down below his coat skirt on the right.
