Officer, No 1 Dress 1954

The blue no 1 dress had no facing colour and was based on the blue patrol jacket worn at the end of the 19th century. The shoulder straps are of twisted gold cord and have the rank badges sewn on. The crimson silk sash was worn round the waist with the tassels hanging on the left side. The sword is slung from a belt worn under the sash, and hooked up. The blue forage cap has a black cap band and red welt around the top. The badge is the same as that introduced in the late 1890s and worn for more than 50 years. It was replaced by a Prince of Wales feathers badge around 1960.
