Charles E Swaine, 1895

The 11th were in South Africa from 1890-92 and when they arrived in Sialkote, India in 1892 they received a bad inspection report. Swaine managed to turn things round within two years so that the 1894 inspection brought great credit to him and the officers.

Col Swaine wears the khaki servive dress worn in India in the mid eighteen nineties. The drabness is brightened up with the silver shoulder chain-mail on crimson cloth backing.
