11th Hussars

Various Badges

This photo is taken from the Dix Noonan Webb website for an auction in Feb 2018. This group of badges was estimated at 140 to 200 pounds but sold for 420 pounds. Amongst these is a bit boss of similar pattern to the breastplate badge on this page. Either side of this are large silver metal sergeant’s arm badges. The same pattern of Prince Albert’s crest and motto can be seen in two more sizes, the smallest for collar badges and the middle size for forage cap badges in either brass, white metal or bronze, the last being for khaki service dress in WW1. The large brass badge with a complex monogram was worn on the large white leather band pouches and is PAOH (Prince Albert’s Own Hussars). There are also shoulder titles; 11H and XIH.
