Queen's Own Hussars

Guidon 1959-1985

The hussar regiments had not carried a guidon since 1832 but in 1952 it was decided to re-introduce them. The 7th and 3rd Hussars did not have guidons but after their amalgamation in 1958 they were presented with this guidon by their Colonel-in-Chief HM the Queen Mother on 20th March 1959. It was emblazoned with 40 of the 67 joint battle honours, 20 on each side. The running white horse of Hannover and the QO cypher in the middle symbolised the joining of the two regiments and the letters QOH appeared in two corners on each side.
