This painting by John Gilroy depicts the presentation of the new guidon to the Queen's Own Hussars at Tidworth on 20th March 1959. The presentation was made by the Colonel-in-Chief of the joint regiment HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and the ceremony was also attended by HRH Princess Margaret who was Colonel-in-Chief of the 3rd Hussars. To the right of the picture are chaplains who officiated at the dedication of the guidon. Archdeacon VJ Pike, chaplain to the Queen and Chaplain-General to the Forces is probably the one in red. |
