Major General Ralph Younger is seen here sitting next to the Colonel-in-Chief of the regiment, HM the Queen Mother. 'This was on the occasion of the presentation of the new guidon to the Queen's Own Hussars on 20th March 1959 at Tidworth. 'Gen Younger had been the Colonel of the 7th Hussars from 6th April 1952 and continued in his capacity as Colonel of the regiment when the 7th and 3rd Hussars amalgamated in 1958. 'He was commissioned into the 7th Hussars in 1925 and commanded the 3rd Carabiniers in Burma in 1942.
