Corporal Jason Robinson

In January 2011 Jason Robinson tackled a gunman who attempted to rob a betting shop in Birmingham. The gunman, Shazad Mahmood aged 25, brandished the handgun at the girl cashiers but Robinson intervened. The gunman fired his pistol at Robinson but it was either unloaded, or misfired. In the doorway Mahmood tried to hit him with the gun and then ran off. He was chased by the young hero for a mile before he was caught. Corporal Robinson, from Solihull was home on leave after a tour of duty in Iraq with the Queen's Royal Hussars.
