Private on Campaign 1842

This figure by Pierre Turner is based on a Cunliffe painting of the 13th in the First Afghan War. The forage cap is light infantry green with a cap-band in the yellow facings colour. There is a bugle badge on the front. The undress shell jacket is worn with nankeen trousers which were issued in India. The white belts on his shoulder are normally seen from the front, crossed over with a belt plate in the middle. The large ammunition pouch and the socket bayonet are supported on the hips. He is armed with a percussion muzzle-loading musket.
