Captain G V Wardell


George Vaughan Wardell was born on Toronto the son of a major who served in the 66th Foot, 93rd Highlanders and the Royal Canadian Rifles. His brother, John Charles Wardell who was in the RMLI and was killed at Tel-el-Kebir in 1882. George Wardell was married to Lucy Russell and was 38 at the time of his death at Isandhlwana. He commanded H Company in the 1st Battalion 24th. H Coy remained in the camp when the battle started and then was placed on the right of the N Battery RFA.
