Private James Henry Fynn VC

Fynn was a Cornishman from Truro, who at the age of 23 won the Victoria Cross for his bravery in Mesopotamia. On 9th April 1916 at Sanna-i-Yat, he went out from the dug-out that he occupied with a small party of men, and within 300 yards of enemy trenches, bandaged wounded men under heavy fire. He had to make several journeys to do this. He also carried a wounded man back on his own. He survived this but was killed a year later on 30th March 1917.
