The Tirah 1897


Two of the sowars have lances while a third holds the bridle of his horse. The man standing second from the left is an Indian officer. The rifle on the saddle of the mounted man is a Martini-Henry which was replaced around 1903 by the Lee-Metford. They are at a campsite in the Tirah region.
