Maharatta Treaty


Thomas Daniell’s painting of the conclusion of the Treaty between the Maharattas and the East India Company is in the Tate Gallery, London. The EIC Resident to the court of the Peshwa, Sir Charles Warre Malet was the main driver of the negotiation. He is the figure in a dark coat and bicorn hat handing a scroll to the Peshwa Madhavrao II.
