Map of Oman

The region of Oman, under the jurisdiction of the Imam of Muscat, covered the coast around the eastern corner of the Arabian peninsula. Sur can be seen, on this late 19th century map, on the point of the corner but the actual point is at Ras al Hadd. Belad Beni Boo Ali (Place of the Sons of Ali) is not marked on the map but is about 50 miles south of Sur and a mile or so inland. Qishm Island is near the Persian coast in the Straits of Hormuz.
