Destruction of Ras-el-Khaimah


Troops gather to watch the burning of the town of Ras-el-Khaimah in November 1809.The town was inhabited by pirates who terrorised ships in the Arabian Sea. They were defeated and driven out of the town leaving the British and Indian troops to set about destroying buildings and ships, and retrieving stolen goods.
